EPC – European Policy Centre

The EPC (European Policy Centre),  - founded in 1996, is an independent, not-for profit think-factory which argues with all subjects from the area of the European Union and has undertaken to promote European integration. In addition, these think-factory deals with reflection and discussions about topical and in future originating problems. EPC is resident in Brussels. – The non-profit organisation wants to accelerate innovative ideas and ways of thinking, – and promote a communication with more than 400 members from all areas of the public life. These 400 organisations are, – for example: diplomatic missions, different enterprises, civil societies, national governments and local bodies. – The Danish political scientist, Hans Martens, is the Chief Executive of EPC.

EPC organises several events per year and brings there members together with experts and European official employees, to discuss important questions around the European agenda. In addition, EPC informs his members and the wide public about extensive information and analyses by publications which deal with interesting European questions. EPC presents adequate solution proposals on these subjects.

The field of work of EPC splits itself in three different areas of responsibility: Europe in the world, – EU integration and citizenship – and political economy of Europe. The interdisciplinary and integrative actions of EPC, incorporate there members in discussions and involves them in the development of solutions. The former general manager of the World Trade Organisation, Peter Sutherland, leads the chairmanship to the general meetings of EPC. In addition, Peter Sutherland is also president of the advisory board of EPC, which includes many prominent EU personalities. For example, the former prime minister of Portugal, Antonio Vitorino, represents the administrative council of EPC. With the “King of Baudouin Foundation” in Belgium and the “Compagnia di San Paolo” endowment in Turin, EPC has two important partners for a close cooperation. This cooperation offers interesting possibilities in the area of EPC-activities.
